| Literary works not only bring people a kind of enjoyment,but also show the cultural characteristics of a nation.“The Water margin” is a work of great ideological value and artistic achievements in Chinese classical literature.It has been translated into many languages.There are many uncertain factors in “The water margin” because of the complexity of the process of writing and the way of spreading.Based on Nida’s functional equivalence theory,this thesis studies the translation of words and sentences in the Uyghur translation of “ The Water Margin” from the perspective of translation methods and techniques.This paper is divided into four chapters: the first chapter is a brief introduction of the research status of “The Water Margin” at home and abroad,as well as the significance and purpose of the topic.Chapter two is a brief introduction of Eugene Nida’s translation theory and his contribution to the field of translation.The third chapter,starting from the core of Nida’s theory,analyzes the equivalence of Vocabulary Translation and sentence level translation skills in “The Water Margin”,such as addition of words,conversion of word order,subtraction of words,etc.Chapter four,the translation methods of Eugene Nida’s translation theory in the Uyghur version of “The Water Margin”,and the analysis of the basic problems in translation.Based on the above analysis,it is found that the translator has met the translation principles and requirements of Nida’s functional equivalence theory in the process of translation.Considering the target language readers,the translator has properly applied translation techniques and methods in fully understanding the content of the original work.The conclusion emphasizes the importance of theoretical study and correct application of translation methods and techniques. |
