University is the key turning point for students from the primary English learning level of middle school to the advanced level.Students spend a lot of energy learning English,but the effect is not satisfactory.Vocabulary is the cornerstone of English learning,and vocabulary memory is the result of the comprehensive use of vocabulary memory strategies.In this paper,quantitative and qualitative research methods are used to study the relationship between vocabulary memory strategies and vocabulary size.In the first study,30 freshmen were interviewed by qualitative research method;in the second study,the freshmen's vocabulary memory strategy questionnaire was compiled,and the formal Freshmen's vocabulary memory strategy questionnaire was foarmed by item analysis and exploratory factor analysis,and the reliability and validity of the questionnaire were tested.In the third study,720 freshmen in YunNan University were investigated with the vocabulary memory strategy questionnaire,receptive vocabulary test paper and productive vocabulary test paper to analyze the vocabulary size and the use of vocabulary memory strategy;in the fourth study,the experimental scheme of vocabulary memory strategy for freshmen was formulated and intervened to analyze the effect of vocabulary memory strategy on vocabulary memory of freshmen And vocabulary.The results of this study are as follows:1.The questionnaire of College Freshmen's vocabulary memory strategy has good reliability and validity.2.Freshmen got the highest score of strategy concept of vocabulary memory and the lowest score of cognitive strategy.3.There were significant differences in the experimental group's receptive vocabulary and productive vocabulary before and after the test.There were significant differences in the total scores of cognitive strategy,social emotional strategy,management strategy and strategy before and after the test of vocabulary memory strategy.In the control group,there were no significant differences inreceptive vocabulary,productive vocabulary and vocabulary memory strategies.4.There are significant differences in the posttest of receptive vocabulary,productive vocabulary in 3000,college vocabulary,5000 and vocabulary mean in the experimental group and the control group;there are significant differences in the memory strategies,cognitive strategies,management strategies and strategy mean in the experimental group and the control group?5.In the experimental group,vocabulary memory strategy had a significant positive predictive effect on receptive vocabulary and productive vocabulary.
