English has become an international common language,more and more people pay attention to it,and pronunciation is the basis of English learning.Only by learning pronunciation well,can we better carry out the next step of learning.Primary school is the best time for students to cultivate correct phonetic awareness and form a good phonetic foundation.Moreover,pronunciation plays an irreplaceable role in primary school students’ listening,writing and reading.However,at present,there is a lack of research on English phonetic teaching in rural primary schools.Therefore,the current situation,problems and reasons of English phonetic teaching in rural primary schools have become the main research questions in this paper.The research methods used in this paper include literature research,questionnaire survey,interview and classroom observation.First of all,through reading the literature of English phonetic teaching at home and abroad,summarize the current research results of English phonetic teaching.Secondly,with reference to the relevant research framework,on the part of students,a questionnaire survey is conducted on the students of two Township Primary Schools from the aspects of basic phonetic knowledge,phonetic learning concept and motivation,phonetic learning attitude,self-evaluation of phonetic learning,phonetic learning strategies and students’ English classroom experience.At the same time,a phonetic test is conducted on the students from phonetic symbols,words and sentence intonation.In the aspect of teachers,interview the teachers from the aspects of the perspective of phonetic teaching,phonetic teaching objectives,phonetic teaching content,phonetic teaching methods and phonetic teaching evaluation,combine with classroom observation,analyze and sort out the survey results,understand the current situation of English phonetic teaching in rural primary schools,conduct in-depth analysis of the reasons,and finally put forward targeted teaching suggestions.The results show that:(1)the goal of phonetic teaching is not accurate;(2)thecontent of phonetic teaching is not comprehensive;(3)the method of phonetic teaching is single and the interaction is not strong;(4)the evaluation method of phonetic teaching is single and rigid.According to the problems and their causes,this paper puts forward the following suggestions to improve the effect of English phonetic teaching.(1)pay attention to English phonetic teaching and improve the position of phonetic teaching;(2)improve teachers’ professional quality and actively play the leading role of teachers;(3)accurate positioning of English pronunciation teaching objectives,improve classroom effectiveness;(4)enrich English pronunciation teaching content,enrich English classroom;(5)design various teaching methods to enhance students’ participation;(6)adopt scientific phonetic teaching evaluation to promote students’ continuous development.
