The Translation Of Metaphor In Academic Text

This report is written based on The Transnationalized Social Question by Thomas Faist.With the advancement of globalization,social problems have risen again and the problem brought by migration has become increasingly acute.Therefore,it is urgent for the academic community to address political conflicts and economic changes caused.The original text is a typical academic text with a amount of information,clear logic,and rigorous wording.There are a number of metaphors in the text,which impedes the understanding of target readers.Therefore,the author chooses the translation of metaphors in academic texts as the translation problem.Conceptual metaphor theory breaks through the limitations of traditional translation studies and offers a new perspective for translation studies.Under the guidance of the theory,the author summarizes the translation skills such as conversion,omission,and sentence split and translation methods like free translation,literal translation and free translation by analyzing examples of structural metaphor,orientational metaphor and onotological metaphor in the text and taking textual features in translation practice into account to improve the readability of translations and provide some references for translation studies of metaphors in academic texts.
