The report is based on the translation of the English drama Resurrection Blues, whose author is Arthur Miller,a famous American playwright.Published in 2006,the play has not seen any Chinese version yet.A dramatic text needs to be presented on the stage ultimately and it's always regarded as the principle for performers, therefore, the translator should focus on the performability in the translation. Moreover,a performable text is characterized by readability and acceptability.Specifically, readability means the best stage effect achieved after the dramatic language is recited by actors, especially the representation of the phonological and colloquial features in the original text. And acceptability refers to the audience's acceptance of the translated script, including the translation of cultural-loaded words and vulgar expressions. To deal with the problems above, the translation strategy of domestication, the translation methods of free translation and variation translation, and the translation techniques such as addition and omission are used in this translation process.Through the translation practice and report writing, the translator's ability to summary and analyze problems has been improved,at the same time,a deeper understanding of the translation of theatrical texts has been internalized. What's more,it is hoped that these corresponding solutions and suggestions based on the translation process will offer some referential values to the translation of similar source texts.
