A Report On The Translation Of Machine Learning And AI For Healthcare:Big Data For Improved Health Outcomes (Excerpts)

With the rapid development of big data and artificial intelligence,artificial intelligence for healthcare develops rapidly and keeps its momentum.On June 24,2016,the General Office of the State Council issued Guidelines of the General Office of the State Council on Promoting and Regulating the Application and Development of Healthcare Big Data,which provides policy support for the development of healthcare big data.Against this background,the author chooses to translate Machine Learning and AI for Healthcare: Big Data for Improved Health Outcomes(2019).Translating this book can effectively and timely popularize the knowledge of healthcare big data and keep the target readers informed about the development and prospects of healthcare big data,and translating this text helps the author learn and summarize methods and techniques applied in translation process.Therefore,the author translated the second chapter of the book,Data,which mainly introduces the concept,types and features of data,the application of data in healthcare field and the challenges faced by big data.This report describes the process of translation practice in detail.Before translation,the author learned about the knowledge of “data” and “healthcare big data”,analyzed the features of the source text at the lexical and syntactic levels,selected translation tools and made translation memory.During translation,the author extracted and translated terms,used translation tools to translate the source text.After translation,the translation was proofread by the author herself and others.This report also presents case analyses at the lexical and syntactic levels: At the lexical level,the translations of technological and healthcare terms,abbreviations and nominalizations are discussed;at the syntactic level,the author analyzes the translations of passive sentences and long sentences.During the translation process,the translation methods are used frequently,including zero translation,literal translation.Besides,the translation techniques are also used,including sequential translation,reverse translation and so on.Through this report,on the one hand,the author hopes to accurately convey the information that the author of the book wants to convey to target readers,and provide some valuable references and methods for translators engaged in technology and healthcare text translation.On the other hand,the author hopes to provide high-quality parallel texts for the translation industry and popularize relevant knowledge of the healthcare big data industry to the public.
