Ouyang Xun is known throughout the world for his regular script.He is among the Four Great Poets of Early Tang Dynasty and Four Great Men of Regular Script,we can tell his achievements by his status.Besides,his identity as a theory calligrapher is known worldwide.He combined his calligraphy with his actual practice to write the Eight Tips,Thirty-six rules,Tips on Teaching,Discussion of Chinese Calligraphy Brush Pen Using.These books are the first signs of Tang’s upholding to rules and valuable heritage of Chinese calligraphy theory.Due to Ouyang Xun ’ s enormous contribution to regular script and calligraphy theory,people seem to forget his achievement on running script.Ouyang’s running script had developed a school of its own in Chinese calligraphy history,as many books has been written,such as Confucius dreaming of Death Copybook,Zhang Han Copybook,Divination on business Copybook and One Thousand Character Primer.His running script makes people feel dangerous and powerful,for its handwriting is sharp and spectacular,that’ why some people would say his handwriting is like a sharp hill.No predecessor’s calligraphy is similar to him.However,the calligraphy educational circles hardly has researches on Ouyang’s running script,yet the only few ones aren’t systematic and comprehensive.This passage is focused on the research on Ouyang’s running script,combined descendant works and the lineage of calligraphy and painting with celebrated masters of generations comments,Moreover,we compared Ouyang’s running script with other calligraphies’ work at the same period,including Ouyang’s followers.To be more specific,we research on his own perspective on the classification on calligraphy and paintings and make a conclusion on his special features of his calligraphy.
