A Study Of Linguistic Internal Form Of Humboldt's Linguistic Theory From The Perspective Of Embodied Philosophy

As the founder of general linguistics,German linguist Wilhelm von Humboldt has a unique philosophical thinking on language from the perspective of anthropology and ethnology.His representative work On the Diversity of Human Language Construction and Its Influence on the Mental Development of the Human Species(über die Verschiedenheit des menschlichen Sprachbaues und ihren Einfluss auf die geistige Entwicklung des Menschengeschlechts)recorded his decades of thinking about language issues,and the theory of linguistic internal form is one of the important and valuable research contents.The concept of “linguistic internal form” actually refers to a system that contains the grammatical structure and semantic structure.This kind of structural system which is within the language should be the real focus of language research.The theory of linguistic internal form involves important topics such as language and thinking,language and reality,and language and culture.This theory has broadened people's horizon on the study of linguistic phenomena and had an extremely important influence on modern linguistics.It is favored by many contemporary schools,especially cognitive linguistics based on embodied philosophy.Based on the two theories of embodied philosophy: the three basic principles and pluralism of linguistic world outlook,this thesis studies the theory of linguistic internal form from a new perspective of embodied philosophy,trying to understand and master Humboldt's linguistic internal form theory.The main points are as follows:First,Embodied philosophy mainly includes three basic principles: the embodied mind,the cognitive unconsciousness,and the metaphorical thought.Taking these principles as the theoretical basis,this thesis re-examines the formation process of the theory of linguistic internal form and attempts to explain: The embodied mind is the cause of formation;the cognitive unconsciousness is the existential state;the metaphorical thought is the way of production.Second,taking the theory of pluralism of linguistic world outlook as the theoretical basis,the thesis comprehensively analyzes embodied philosophy's critique and heritage from Humboldt's linguistic internal form from the perspectives of language,cognition and reality to reflect practical significance of the study of Humboldt's philosophy of language.Third,by comparing and analyzing the differences and similarities of these two research methods from the perspective of methodology,the thesis points out the most amazing and far-reaching points in Humboldt's philosophy of language: take human biology as research foundation and combine objective regularity with subjective initiative.The thesis aims to reiterate the importance and necessity of the study of Humboldt's philosophy of language by studying Humboldt's linguistic internal form theory thoroughly from the perspective of embodied philosophy.
