Motif is a minor form of discourse inherited from generation to generation in literary works,expressing the common life conditions of human beings.The orderly combination of different motifs promotes the development of plots and expresses different thematic meanings.The motif of love is also an important motif in literature,which is the cornerstone of the development of love stories.In the history of western literature,the writing of love motif in different periods has different thematic characteristics.Love in the western classical literature become the hero character elements,love in the Renaissance literature is used to resist the religious idea of asceticism,love in the 18 th and 19 th century literature is to break through level position will reveal the equality of humanitarian,love in the period of the 20 th century literature and personal experience of unity and personality character.From the development history of the motif of love in western literature,we can find its unique time and region when we examine the expression of love in Marquez’s novels.The development and deduction of the love motif in the novel cannot be separated from the three elements of the protagonist’s role identity,love way and love situation.Through the analysis and research of the characteristics of the love motif in Marquez’s novels,this paper probes into the unique role and significance of the writing of the love motif in Marquez’s novels.The paper discusses from three parts.Chapter one summarizes the relationship between motif and plot and theme,as well as the manifestation of love motif in western classical literature.The second chapter analyzes the identity characteristics,love way,love situation and love plot deduction of the love protagonists in Marquez’s four novels,and explores the causes and significance of the tragic ending of the love stories in his novels.The third chapter analyzes and explains the realistic significance of the love motif in Marquez’s novels,and explores the relationship between the tragic love in his novels and the closed regional environment in Latin America,the ancient local culture,the social history of conflicts and the coexistence of diverse cultures.In order to grasp Marquez through the writing of love tragedy to explore Latin America out of the lonely predicament,to get a happy life of thinking and advice.
