Study On The Customs Of "Theatre" And "Banquet" In Wengcuo Village From The Perspective Of Theatre Anthropology

The study of theatre and its customs from the perspective of Theatre Anthropology provides a new theory and method for it,and becomes a new research method in the field of theatre.I take Gangnan Township,Wengcuo Village,Xiuyu District,Putian City,Fujian Province as a representative to make a concrete elaboration.From the perspective of Theatre Anthropology,I try to explore the cultural connotations and functions of the customs of "Theatre" and "Banquet" by using the method of field investigation.In Gangnan Township,Martial Tiangong,the gods of Puxian Opera as sacrifices,which protects the land of Puxian.And the tribute is mainly Gongyin.The "Theatre" activity in Gangnan Township combines "Theatre" and "Banquet",which has the functions of worshiping gods and praying for blessings,and also has the feature of "theatre accompanying with ceremony".The "theatre" refers to Puxian Opera.The "ceremony" refers to the worship ceremony for Martial Tiangong,on the other hand,it refers to the ceremony symbolizing good praying,such as "Jia Guan Nong Xian" and "Yi Tuan".The custom of Banquet comes with the custom of Theatre.They complement each other and form the belief pillar of Gangnan Township.The former is the derivative of the latter.On the first night of the "Theatre" activity,the invited guests and their relatives and friends came to a Chen family in Gangnan Township to participate in the Banquet.Generally speaking,the "Theatre" activivity is a kind of double reinforcement of social relations under the common belief and clan system.It is part of the folk culture.The essence of the Theatre is that it relies on the pre performance state,the performance state and the post performance state of Puxian Opera.It constructs the relationship between the believers and the faith between Gangnan Township and Martial Tiangong.Banquet is a post performance state of Puxian Opera.The essence of Banquet is that,as a derivative of the Theatre custom,condenses the power of the Chen family in Gangnan Township,and becomes a clan link to strengthen the mutual connection between the members of the Chen family in Gangnan Township.The functions of the "Theatre" and "Banquet" are embodied in three aspects: the demand of "watching good plays",the place of "connecting",and the inheritance of "heirloom".
