With the progress of science and technology,the video game industry has been developing rapidly and the number of game players is growing fast.Facing the fierce competition,more and more game companies began to pay more attention to the improvement of game quality.At the same time,as the global game market develops,the demand for game translation is increasing.The characteristics of game texts also bring high requirements for translators,which is both an opportunity and a great challenge.This thesis is based on a case study regarding the interactive mobile game Warrior Girls & Dark Power.In this case study,the author analyses the features of mobile game texts and the characteristics of mobile game players,and addresses three types of problems encountered during the translation process,namely different text types,long sentence patterns and formal language.Through case analyses,the author proposes the following strategies: i)classifying the original texts into different types according to different game modes and unifying the terminology;ii)controlling the length of the texts and cutting the long and difficult sentences into short ones to meet the user expectation;iii)using more oral expressions and reducing the register to fit the expression habits of today’s young people who make up most players of this game.Hopefully,this study will help to improve the Chinese-English translation of mobile games and improve the user experience of mobile game players.
