As an innovative concept of urbanization,"Smart City" spreads rapidly on a global scale.Through the scientific and accurate depiction of the media image of a smart city,the construction results of smart cities can be measured from the perspective of media communication and public cognition.According to the Pseudo-Environment Theory,this study selects the big data of online news headline as the analysis object,and uses the content analysis method to construct a smart city network news headline retrieval tool.This tool is used to analyze the smart city media images of 37 cities in China,reflecting the city residents'cognition of Smart City,thus enriching the relevant theoretical research of smart cities.The study obtained the following results:(1)The essence of smart city is to use advanced information and communication technology to realize urban smart management and operation from the aspects of economy,politics,culture,society and environmental protection through cooperation of various urban participants,and promote urban self-regulation.And sustainable development,ultimately creating a better urban life for mankind.(2)With the seven dimensions of environmental protection,smart industry,smart people's livelihood,smart transportation,smart education,smart medical care,smart management and service as the connotation framework of smart city,this study constructs a smart city online news headline search tool.And calculate the smart city media image index in the top ten cities in 2017,followed by Haikou,Yinchuan,Beijing,Xiamen,Nanjing,Wuhan,Xi'an,Xining,Chengdu,Shenzhen.(3)Although there is a gap between the media image and the objective reality,we have to admit that the media image comes from the objective reality and is also shaping the objective reality.The public will reflect the reality according to the media image.If there is a lot of news about the smart city in a city,the public of the city will also think that the smart city is the focus of the city's development.The media image of smart city can reflect the construction of smart city in reality,but also affect the future construction of smart city in reality.Therefore,the media image has important research value.The purpose of this study is not to accurately present the overall development of China's smart cities,but to explore a set of methods to present the public's understanding of the level of development of smart cities by using big data of network news,and to show the media image of China's smart cities.
