This paper takes the female migrant workers in the early period of the Republic of China as the object of study.Focusing on the incident of the two bans on Guangzhou waitress at teahouses in 1920 s,based on the debate about the legitimacy of traditional female migrant workers in the press,by sorting out Guangzhou Republic daily and other newspapers in the late years of the Qing dynasty,intended to restore the full picture of the event,and tries to present the conflict of public opinion and its historical influence in the process of traditional women's transition from family to society.Chapter One is the introduction,which explains the background of this paper,related research review and research methods.Chapter Two analyzes the historical background of female out-migrating for work in the early period of the Republic of China.The renewal of the mode of production in the late Qing dynasty made China's modern national capitalist light industry develop very well.Powerful external needs attract a large number of underclass women who cannot survive.The continuous development of the trend of "advocating affection" in the late Ming dynasty gave birth to the personal opinion of the lower-class women in the pearl river delta region to "break the shackles".The long integration of the east and the west in the history of this region also helped to liberate people's minds.Together,these factors have driven a large number of lower-class female migrant workers.Chapter Three will focus on the construction of migrant women's different identities in the early years of the Republic of China.New professional women are often presented in a positive image in the modern context.But it is still inevitably trapped in the shackles of traditional ideas.The lower-class female workers,represented by hostesses,are stigmatized,forming a public opinion landscape of holding social morality hostage,personal compromise and self-argument,and the government's support of the mean.The fourth and fifth chapters will focus on the media presentation of the incident of two banned hostesses in Guangzhou in the 1920 s.Chapter four takes the two bans on hostesses' blowout of public opinion as the analysis object.The first ban wave originated in Guangzhou teahouse tavern industry due to the appearance of female employees and intensified professional competition,the first strike on hostesses was driven by a male strike;the second wave of prohibition was influenced by the campaign against prostitution.The overwhelming criticism of public opinion highlighted the distortion of the image of hostesses.But there are also sympathetic voices.The fifth chapter is devoted to analyzing how the conflict of public opinion about hostesses forms the discourse framework of daily and ethical intersection,traditional and modern game,dialysis the culture and rights and interests behind the conflict of public opinion,and clarifies the nature and context change of the conflict of public opinion.Finally,the historical influence of public opinion on the issue of female migrant workers in the early Republic of China will be evaluated.In the author's opinion,the conflict of public opinions on female migrant workers in modern newspapers has intensified the dual differentiation of urban and rural concepts.This has led to isolated groups such as girls who never marry,blind girls who sing and prostitutes.At the same time,newspapers and magazines focus on the phenomenon of women going out to work,to a certain extent,promoted the process of the social movement,and promoted the social legislation in favor of gender equality.
