The Research On The Influence Of Rural Bride Price On The Poverty Vulnerability Of Farmers

In the era of poverty alleviation,the poverty caused by high-priced brides in rural areas has received extensive attention,the high-priced bride has become the important factor of the poverty of rural families.The bride which transcends the per capita disposable income of rural residents will also bring a series of social problems.The No.1 of 2019 Document of the Central Government clearly stated that it is necessary to govern the bad social atmosphere such as high-priced bride in rural areas.However,there is no literature to conduct empirical research on the relationship between rural bride price and poverty of farmers.Based on this,this paper uses the measurement method to empirically explore the influence of rural bride price on the poverty vulnerability of farmers,aiming at providing theoretical support for the current marriage customs reform and rural migration and customs work,and implementing the rural revitalization strategy and formulating targeted poverty alleviation policies.Firstly,this paper reviews the relevant research results at home and abroad,then defines and clarifies the concept of bride price and poverty vulnerability according to the research content of this paper.Then this paper expounds the theoretical basis and theoretical framework of the impact of rural bride price on the poverty vulnerability of farmers from the three related mechanisms of risk shock,risk response capability and risk-induced consequences.After that,this paper also describes the current situation of rural bride price expenditure and the poverty situation of rural residents in China from the macro and micro data.Next,based on the CHARLS data,this paper quantifies the relationship between rural bride price and the poverty vulnerability of farmers from the empirical aspect by using the multi-dimensional and orderly response Logit model.It is found that(1)the bride price expenditure has a significant positive impact on the poverty vulnerability of farmers.The greater the amount of bride price expenditure,the higher the probability that farmers will fall into poverty vulnerability.(2)With the increase in the amount of bride price expenditure,the probability of farmers falling into long-term poverty is higher.(3)The results of sub-sample regression showed that there were significant regional and age differences in the impact of bride price expenditure on farmers' poverty vulnerability.The bride price expenditure had a greater impact on the poverty vulnerability of respondents in the western region and the 50-60 age group.Finally,according to the empirical results of this paper,this paper proposes to strengthen the popularization of the law,improve relevant laws and regulations;pay attention to the families of the western region and the 50-60 age group,as well as the poverty of male families;innovate the long-term poverty mechanism and formulate comprehensive and refined poverty alleviation measures.
