Research On The Role Of Social Workers In Aging-adapted Modification Service For The Elderly With Minimum Living Allowance

Home-based care mode is the most important care mode in our country at present,and the old-age living in the original place is also a common choice for the elderly in our country,especially for the vulnerable elderly.The precondition of home-based care is suitable living environment for the elderly.The safety of home-based environment for the elderly has been paid more and more attention by the society.In January 2016,Ministry of Civil Affairs Announcement No.396 issued the recommended industry standard of "Guidelines for Social Work Services for the Elderly".It stipulates "aging-adapted modification service" as one of the main service contents of social work for the elderly,which conforms to the national conditions and the status quo of the elderly in China.Thereafter,aging-adapted modification service with social workers as the main service providers gradually appeared in people's vision.Social work has always focused on helping vulnerable groups and solving social problems,innovating social governance and promoting the harmonious development of society.This emerging field of social work for the elderly is both a challenge and an opportunity for social workers.However,social workers are neither professional construction industry practitioners nor professional theoretical knowledge of home decoration.How to carry out aging-adapted modification project service to meet the needs of service objects in terms of home safety?In order to explore the role and value of social workers in the aging-adapted modification service,this paper starts with the project of "Elderly Home Improvement Program" which the author was responsible for during the internship of A Family Support Integrated Service Center.Through literature research,participatory observation and interviews,it is concluded that that social workers mainly play the basic roles of coordinator,needs assessor,resource linker and organization manager,leader and advocate of "two-work linkage".The role of social workers has achieved good service results in home improvement,material assistance,anxiety relief,spiritual comfort and community care.However,social workers do not play a good role in assessing needs,linking resources and organizational management.The author analyses the factors affecting the role of social workers from two aspects: subjective factors at the individual level and objective factors of external environment,summarizes and reflects on practical experience,and accordingly puts forward corresponding improvement measures to help social workers recognize the role orientation in the aging-adapted modification service,improve the service effect,make the intervention of social workers in home-based care service more perfect,and make up for the deficiency of government public service.At the same time,it will provide reference for social work intervention in the aging-adapted modification service,and strive to implement the standard norms and requirements of the National Ministry of Civil Affairs Guidelines for Social Work for the Aged.
