In the course of the development of economic construction and spiritual civilization construction,people have gradually gained a deeper understanding of female workers.The society and the public are more respectful to female workers,but in some cases gender segregation still exists.In the horizontal direction,single-sex people gather in certain occupations;in the vertical direction,there are gender differences in wage levels,professional reputation and career promotion opportunities.Policewomen are engaged in the traditional male-dominated industry.This paper analyzes the impact of gender segregation on the career development of policewomen by using policewomen in the police industry as a research object to enhance the government's attention to policewomen and to make them could get more attention and protection.Studying the career development of policewomen and solving the problems existing in the career development of policewomen can reflect the importance attached to women's liberation,improve women's social status,and also stimulate women in other industries to contribute to full realization of ender equality and harmonious development between men and women.This paper deeply studies the phenomenon of gender segregation in the police industry that using literature review,semi-structured interviews,participatory observation and other research methods.It is found that gender segregation is mainly reflected in: horizontally,the proportion of policewomen in the entire public security team is not high.In addition,there is an imbalance in the distribution of police positions,mainly in non-handling departments such as in-flight and household registration;in the vertical direction,policewomen in leadership positions are not high,and promotion opportunities are not equal.At the same time,using gender segregation theory,career development theory,humanistic management theory,comprehensive sociology,management science and other disciplines,this paper analyzes the influencing factors of gender segregation on the career development of policewomen,mainly divided into internal factors and external factors.The internal factors are the physical and psychological characteristics of the policewomen.The external factors are the stereotypes of the traditional concept of the policewomen by the government,the public security organs,and the public.They believe that the policewomen are only suitable for some work,such as internal affairs,household registration,and archives.According to the status quo of policewomen professional development,gender segregation and influencing factors,the domestic public security system's policy efforts to promote the career development of policewomen are collected,and the defects are identified,and the policewomen professional is promoted from the perspective of managers.The countermeasures for development suggest that the government should establish a people-oriented management philosophy,improve and improve the legal system,personnel system and promotion mechanism that are conducive to the career development of policewomen,strengthen the management and guidance of the policewomen's career,and improve the fairness of policy implementation.And shape the advanced police camp culture.At the social level,we must create a gender culture that is conducive to the career development of policewomen,build a social support system for policewomen,and play a positive role in promoting the professional development of policewomen in the police industry.At the individual level of policewomen,it is necessary to change the mentality,improve the ability and quality,do a good job in the management and planning of career development,and balance the relationship between family and career.This research is one of the few papers in China that uses policewomen as the research object.From the perspective of gender isolation,it examines the career development of policewomen,pays attention to the career development and security of policewomen,and through resource mining and policy adjustment.Gradually adapt and match the policewomen's demand for career development,pay attention to its confusion in career development,and better realize the benign development of the public security.
