Comparative Study On The Coverage Of Rio Olympics Between Titan Sports And Tokyo Sports

As the largest sporting event in the world,the Olympic Games have far-reaching influences that are unmatched by other events.Nowadays,the Olympic contests have not only been the sports arenas where national athletes competed,but also competed by the global media to report and became the journalism matches of the media.In this dissertation,news coverage reported by Titan Sports and Tokyo Sports in the period of 2016 Rio Summer Olympics were researched with literature review,content analysis and comparative analysis.Based on frame theory,the author conducted a frame research from high,medium and low level from amount,layout language,theme,structure,discourse framework and other aspects of reports and finally found respective frame feature of two newspapers.The aim is to enlighten the Olympic Games reports of the two newspapers and the sport reports of other paper media in the future.The study found two newspapers had basically the same quantity of reports for 2016 Rio Summer Olympics and showed same concern upon the game.Tokyo Sports expressed more elaborate and visual impact in the design of title and layout.It focused more on characterizing athletes and quoted athletes' words to support its perspective.Tokyo Sports paid attention to colloquial reactions,obvious medal framework and standard framework and strong national concept.Besides,Tokyo Sports concentrated a large number of readable news information.Titan Sports,the layout is concise and diverse.By contrast,brought out a more diversified and broad reporting framework.This newspaper contained more commentary on the reports,more international coverage and diversified types of titles,readers were encouraged to read more by increasing the difficulty of understanding the titles.It is suggested that the paper should strengthen the visual design of the title page,and enhance the application of background information in the characterization.
