Flexible Hegemony:a Research Of Power Operation Of Foreman And How Such Power Influences The Labor Relations

Garment processing industry,as one of the leading industries of national economic development,due to its less capital investment,the barriers to entry is incredibly low and the demand for the worker's cultural degree is not high and so on,which becomes the type of industry that absorbs the largest numbers of migrant workers.When we discuss the labor relations,we pay much more attention to the relationship of workers and boss.However,the relationship between workers and foremen has not attracted much attention.I think the practice of power operation of the foreman has an important influence on labor relations.This paper starts from the labor process theory,taking F garment factory in Z city for example,which focuses on a grass-roots manager in the workshop,namely monitor's management and controlling strategy,that is the foreman discussed in this article.in order to complete the production task,guarantee the order of production and obtain the cooperation of workers,the foreman has developed a flexible hegemony.By means of reasoning and manufacturing the form of caring to manufacture consent among workers,the power mechanism to achieve the purpose of management and control is conceptualized the flexible hegemony.Generation logic of the power mechanism is under the influence on factory regime,the skill level and organizational strength of workers.Limitations of flexible hegemony lies in two aspects:Firstly,the consent it manufactures is part of the consent.Secondly,the consent it manufactures is a kind of individual empirical identification.Although this kind of power manufactures consent among workers,it is also resisted by the workers.Workers' resistance lies in the tacit cooperation in action and moral support in discourse.The influence of this kind of power operation on labor relations is mainly manifested in two aspects:Firstly,the consent it manufactures is part of the consent and a "Flexible shackles ".When the demands and interests of the workers are not satisfied,it may break the "Flexible shackles",and bury the foreshadowing of the contradiction between labor and capital.Secondly,it may eliminate the contradiction between labor relations at the internal level of workers.
