Teacher professional standard is very important to the cultivation of high quality teachers and is an important basis for the training and selection of teachers.In 2011,Australia promulgated the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers,which divides teachers into four stages:graduate teachers,proficient teachers,highly accomplished teachers and lead teachers,in accordance with the requirements of the teacher's professional development stage.The requirements for three aspects of professional knowledge,professional practice and professional engagement are put forward for teachers in each stage.The University of Sydney,the University of Monash,the University of Adelaide,the University of Queensland and the University of New South Wales are of special significance and value in teacher cultivating as an important part of the Group of Eight.What is the present situation of teacher education curricula in these five universities?What is the impact of Australian Professional Standards for Teachers on teacher education curricula in five universities?How did this happen?These are the three main concerns of this study.The main conclusions can be drawn from the analysis of Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and teacher education curricula in five universities by using the literature research method.Firstly,Australian Professional Standards for Teachers are inherited " The Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians " committed to developing high-quality teachers,speeding the flow of teachers between states and territories,and paying attention to the development of all students and maintaining social equity,it has a profound impact on the improvement of teacher education curricula,the appraisal of the level of graduate teachers,the evaluation of teachers' registration and the promotion of teachers' professional development.Secondly,the teacher education curricula of the five universities have their own characteristics in curricula objectives,curricula contents,curricula implementation and curricula assessment.They also have considerable commonality.The five universities not only train graduate teachers as teaching experts,but also require them to have research capabilities,coordination and leadership.In the curricula content setting,the five universities adopt the content knowledge and the pedagogy to carry on the teaching,at the same time pay attention to the professional practice and the multicultural curricula imparting,and lay a solid foundation for graduate teachers to enter the teacher profession.In the process of carrying professional practice,the subjects do their respective duties.Universities set clear goals for graduate teachers,and provide support for graduate teachers with difficulties in the learning.When evaluating the teacher education curricula,five universities tend to use qualitative research method to evaluate the teacher education curricula,and pay attention to the students' performance in the curricula and the degree of achievement of the curricula objectives and promote the renewal and development of teacher education curricula.Furthermore,Australian Professional Standards for Teachers are consistent with the teacher education curricula of five universities in terms of curricula objectives,curricula content and curricula assessment.Under the influence of Australian Professional Standards for Teachers,five universities are committed to building teaching experts while offering professional orientation characteristics in curricula content setting.They are concerned about the development of professional practice and conform to the quality requirements of Australian Professional Standards for Teachers for the quality of graduate teachers.The assessment of the teacher education curricula of the five universities conforms to the concept and content of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.The principles and plans for the assessment of the curricula are based on the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.Finally,under the joint action of Australian federal and state governments,universities,and primary and secondary schools,the impact of Australian Professional Standards for Teachers on teachers' education in five universities have finally taken place.Australian Professional Standards for Teachers are introduced through the Initial Teacher Education program accreditation and the Teacher Registration System of the states.Based on the specific circumstances of Australia,universities have a great deal of autonomy in terms of their specialties and curricula setting.Through the internal tradition of teacher education curricula quality assessment and professional practice,universities make Australian Professional Standards for Teachers have the greatest impact on teacher education curricula,and primary and secondary schools as partners of the university,in the process of developing teachers in cooperation with universities,the influence of Australian Professional Standards for Teachers on teacher education curricula is deepened.
