The social problems caused by the application of science and technology in contemporary society have become increasingly prominent,and people ha ve begun to think about the educational implications of these issues.The purpose of science education is not only to train elite talents,but also to focus on improving the quality of citizens,especially the improvement of citizens' scientific literacy.In order to achieve the harmonious development of man and society.,it is expected that the public can use their own scientific knowledge and corresponding capabilities to scientifically handle the production and life issues around them.In the present and future of frequent scientific and technological problems,the ability to make reasonable and effective social decisions is an important prerequisite for the harmonious development of people and society.Therefore,the cultivation of students' social decision-making ability has become one of the important tasks of current science education.The application of socioscientific issues(SSI)in science teaching can stimulate students' interest in learning science,promote students' participation in social decision-making,help deepen the connection between science and humanities,and comply with the current requirements of cultivating students' core qualities in China.Therefore,it is of positive practical significance to study the application of socioscientific(SSI)in chemistry teaching.The paper systematically analyzes domestic and international researches on socioscientific issues,and focuses on the analysis of teaching models and teaching design of socioscientific issues,laying a theoretical foundation for follow-up research.The paper analyzes the socioscientific issues in compulsory high school chemistry curriculum from content standards and textbooks.Taking the Luke Edition High School Chemistry Compulsory 1 and Required 2 as examples,the curriculum content suitable for SSI teaching is analyzed and organized.Some optional topics are listed for different contents.Based on the social decision-making model and consensus project model of the existing SSI teaching,the dissertation constructs the SSI teaching design ideas in chemistry teaching and puts forward corresponding teaching strategies.The teaching design idea includes five links,namely,the analysis of teaching content,student background analysis,the selection of topics,the design of teaching objectives,and the design of teaching activities.Among them,the first four links are the content of preparation before class,and the last link is the implementation of teaching,including the issue understanding,issue analysis,issue discussion,issue decision-making and issue evaluation of the five steps.In order to test the feasibility and effectiveness of the SSI teaching model in chemistry teaching,the dissertation designed the teaching case based on the SSI teaching design concept and used the example of “Transformation of Sulfur” in Section 3 of Chapter 3 of the Senior High School Chemistry Compulsory.The issue was chosen is " Sulfite should be used as a food additive?" After the teaching case was put into practice,the teaching effect of SSI teaching was investigated through interviews.Through classroom observation and analysis of student interview results,it was found that students liked and supported chemistry classes in the form of SSI teaching;students had improved ability to analyze and think about problems from multiple angles after application of SSI teaching.Increased awareness of learning knowledge and increased attention to social issues.
