21st century is the information era,in which the speed of knowledge updating is so rapid.In the new era,the reading teaching should attach more importance to the strategy teaching,which could enable the students to master a variety of reading strategies and to be skilled at utilizing them,so that they can acquire and expand their total amount of knowledge.The current education is gradually on the way centering around students,which is from emphasizing memory reciting into oriented strategy learning,problem-resolving one.But when we retrospect the current situation of Chinese reading teaching,there still exist the problems,valuing knowledge at the cost of ignoring strategy.As a result,how to improve students' ability to utilize reading strategies is the heat of this study.This study,based on past related study,carries out an investigation about the current situation of reading strategies of four classes from grade five in Optics Valley fifth primary school in Wuhan.In this paper,reading strategies are separated into two parts:reading cognitive strategy and reading meta-cognitive strategy,then through both of them to design a reading strategy questionnaire.This paper investigates the specific situation of utilizing reading strategies for primary school students and finds out the main problems existing in the process of utilizing current reading strategies.At the same time,through a set of stable and measurable reading quality papers,this study could measure the degree of students' reading level truly and effectively,so that teachers can be guided to implement the teaching of reading strategies better by the investigation of the relationship between reading strategies and reading quality,from which it puts forward some suggestions for the transition from reading course to strategy teaching so as to enlighten the Chinese teachers in primary school.The introduction part of this article consists of the research background,the purpose and significance of the study,the concept and type of reading strategy,the basis of the research as well as the assumption of this study.The first chapter mainly illustrates the compilation and implementation of the reading strategy questionnaire.The second chapter states the current situation of utilizing reading strategies from the perspective of data analysis.The third chapter illustrates the main problems existing in the process of utilizing students' reading strategies and makes an analysis on the related reasons.The main problems are as follows:utilizing much more-rehearsal and memory strategies,rather than the use of coding and organizational strategies;lack of thinking and evaluation ability as well as reading appreciation ability;no planned reading and losing the direction of the reading target;In addition,their reading monitoring ability is deficient and the corresponding adjustment is lack of guidance.Their reading adjustment ability is lacking,so that they tend to ask help from others and so on.The main reasons for these existing problems are as follows:The students' consciousness to utilize strategy is not clear.Teachers fail to pay more attention to the teaching of reading strategies.Moreover,the new curriculum standard does not emphasize the reading strategy clearly,and the textbook is lack of the information type text.Targeted at the existing problems above,The fourth chapter is mainly to put forward some pertinent suggestions about the teaching of reading strategies on the basis of the reference literature and the teaching materials from a large number of excellent teachers in the classroom.First of all,teachers should cultivate students' reading ability to utilize cognitive strategies,which specifically contain increasing coding and organizing strategies,and improving reading thinking and evaluation ability,strengthening appreciation and analysis,as well as carrying out emotional education.Second,teachers should cultivate students' ability to utilize the reading meta-cognitive strategies,which specifically contain positioning reading targets,making reading plans,training students'meta-cognitive monitoring,and guiding students' meta-cognitive adjustment.At the same time,students should have a sense of strategies,and teachers should pay more attentionto the teaching of reading strategies.In addition,the school should enrich the course construction and optimize the design of the textbook as well as increase the text type of the textbook.
