Educational informatization is a significant embodiment of educational modernization.As the experiencer and promoter of educational informatization,teachers' role can not be ignored,and it is necessary to improve their ability of information technology application.Geography education,as an important part of the basic education,its subject nature and teaching needs make the application of information technology in geography teaching more and more important.How to improve their ability to apply information technology has become a major opportunity and challenge for middle school geography teachers in the new era.In this context,this study chooses some middle school geography teachers in Xinyang City as the research object,carries out a questionnaire survey,and respectively analyzes,studies and discusses the status,causes and promotion strategies of middle school geography teachers' information technology application ability.Based on reviewing and combing relevant literatures at home and abroad,this study defines relevant concepts and determines the theoretical basis of the research.According to the relevant requirements of "Standards for Information Technology Application Ability of Primary and Secondary School Teachers(Trial)",and combining with the actual situation of schools and teachers,a questionnaire on information technology application ability of middle school geography teachers was developed,and some middle school geography teachers in Xinyang City,Henan Province were selected to conduct surveys and interviews.The results show that the school multimedia hardware infrastructure needs to be further improved.The overall level of teachers' information technology application ability needs to be improved;teachers' information technology application development ability needs to be improved;teachers' information technology application learning and development ability needs to be strengthened;teachers' information technology application ability training effect needs to be improved.Through classroom teaching observation,it is found that there are the following problems in the ability of geography teachers to apply information technology: The frequency of multimedia assisted instruction is different;the operation ability of hardware equipment needs to be improved;the quality of courseware is relatively general;the application of information technology has little effect on the change of teaching mode.The main reasons for the above problems are as follows: The school informatization teachingenvironment is not perfect;teachers' awareness of information technology application ability is not strong;teachers' relevant training is not in place and the evaluation system is unreasonable.In order to improve the information technology application ability of middle school geography teachers,according to the survey results and reasons,this paper puts forward several suggestions from three aspects: school,teacher and government.Schools should actively improve the information-based teaching environment;teachers should reflect on the teaching effect and students' feedback;the government should vigorously strengthen the training of information technology ability.
