Research purpose: In this study, through the comparison and analysis of different kinds of fencing athletes in front lunge action(swinging leg)muscle surface electromyography, hip, knee and ankle joint movement.Discuss the difference of different kinds of swords and the reasons for the difference.Find out the characteristics and rules of fencing technique.Provide targeted injury prevention training and technical improvement for athletes and coaches.Research methods: Fifteen elite fencers of Jiangsu women's fencing team, including foil, epee and saber, were selected to perform lunging with sword in situ.Kinematics and methods of electricty were recorded during lunge movements through Vicon(Motion Analysis Inc.,Oxford,UK)and Wireless Surface Electromyography(Delsys,Boston,MA,USA).The post-processing analysis was done using Visual 3D(CMotion,Inc.,Germantown,MD,USA).Research Results: In the process of lunging: There was no significant difference in the range of motion and peak angular velocity of ankle joints among the three swords. The range of motion and peak angular velocity of the hip and knee joints of foil athletes were significantly larger than those of epeeist and sabers.Among the three swordsmen, the anterior tibial muscle contributed the most. The gastrocnemius muscle of foil and saber athletes exerts more force, while the medial femoral muscle of epeeist exerts more force.Research conclusions: The characteristics of foil athletes' quick and simple direct attack determine that foil athletes can increase the forward swing speed of swinging legs by widening the range of joint movement and angular speed to meet the needs of fast bow stride. The range motion of ankle joint is relatively small, which is helpful to improve the stability of ankle joint and landing smoothly.Ankle dorsiflexion during swing leg forward swing results in continuous tibial anterior muscle contraction.Female fencers are relatively weak in leg strength, and tend to have unbalanced muscle power, resulting in knee buckle.
