In recent years, with the rapid advancement of computer technology, virtual reality has developed fast.Virtual reality-based functional applications and products have covered almost all the areas, including industry, military, education, medical treatment, architecture, etc. In today's education field, the concept of digital campus is more and more popular among people, and it is the future development trend of colleges and universities.Virtual campus is based on virtual reality technology and it creates a virtual campus scene with immersion and interaction according to reality.Based on the Unity3 D engine, this paper designs a virtual campus roaming system with interactive functions through simulation and 3D modeling, combined with C# scripting language, and studies the key technologies used.Specific work includes the following:(1)Perform a demand analysis on the system and design the functional structure and operation flow, and develop according to the system structure sub-module.(2)The creation of a 3D simulation scene. The SketchUp software was used to carry out 3D modeling of the building, and the real scenes of the campus were simulated using techniques such as terrain rendering and bulletin board. With the Unity3 D engine as the development platform,it implements interactive functions such as role control, building information display, transmission, and automatic roaming. It uses the pre-made and custom files in Unity3 D for data storage and query.Test and optimize the system based on the Unity3 D platform.(3)The rendering operation of the system and the optimization principle of the scene are studied. The improved ideas and methods of the LOD model simplification algorithm are proposed.
