Research On Old Age Poverty In Rural Areas From A Life Course Perspective

Poverty has always been an important issue that constrains global economic and social development.In China's social and economic development,poverty has also become a "bottleneck" for social development,which has continued to affect overall social progress and overall national strength,especially in 2020.Under the goal of building a well-off society in an all-round way in the year,the solution to the poverty problem is particularly urgent.Due to their weak position and limited poverty coping ability,the rural poor elderly should be widely concerned by the society.Taking the old-age poverty in Dingcun,Shaanxi as an example,the thesis analyzes the economic status,health status and family status of the poor old people,applies the analysis paradigm of life history theory,and traces the entire life-poverty path through the poor old people.According to the volatility of the trajectory of the life course of the elderly and the development trend of poverty in the later years,the trajectory of the “life-poverty” of the elderly is divided into six categories: life trajectory fluctuation,rising poverty in the later years,fluctuation of life trajectory,and poverty in later life.The trajectory of life volatility,poverty decline in later years;the life track is stable,the poverty rises in the later years,the life track is stable,the poverty is flattened in the later years,the life track is stable,and the poverty declines in later years.On this basis,through the four analysis paradigms of life history theory: life time and space,interconnected life,time of life events,personal subjective initiative,in-depth analysis of the causes of old age poverty,the study believes:the generation of old age poverty Throughout the life course and constantly changing and developing,not only related to the sudden events in the later years,but also to the continuation events in the early life,the time points of the life inflection events are crucial for the generation of poverty in the elderly;The changes of time and space and social system have always shaped the background of the elderly as the background of poverty.The lack of family resource endowment,the unbalanced interaction between two-way intergenerational resources,and the loose interpersonal relationship have become important factors for poverty in old age.Personal ideology,personal choice and action logic,and subjective dynamism continue to influence the direction of the life trajectory of the elderly.On this basis,this study believes that the elimination of old-age poverty should be carried out from the cultivation of human capital,enhance individual coping ability,prevent poverty;improvesocial security,achieve poverty,and get rid of poverty in later years.
