The Changes And Expression Of The Family Authority

Starting from the interaction mechanism between father and son,this paper discusses the question of whether the family authority is sacred in contemporary villages.According to the traditional norms,the father-son relationship is usually the main authority relationship among the family members.However,there are some differences nowadays.In authority relationships,the father-son relationship has changed,also the authority appears between mother and child,husband and wife,etc.According to the studies of the authority in sociology of religion,there are some other characteristics worth discussing between Christian family members and non-Christian family members.This article compares the God belief in Christian families with the ancestor worship in non-Christian families,and then conducts the study of the relationship between father and son.Under the analytical framework of "value-life practice",that is,in the mutual influence of the belief value and the practice of familial daily life,the specific formation of family authority of different belief types is analyzed by taking a village in Z province as a case.This paper argues that the two types of rural family authorities have their commonalities with the expression mechanism,but the specific sacred and authoritative characteristics are different.From the mechanism,the value of the family authority is sacred,with family relations,membership,family ethics,and rituals as the constituent elements,which is manifested as the sanctification of the "father" identity in the faith sense.The sacredness of the value level provides the basis for the rationality of the father's authority in life.The sacred resources are internalized in the family ethics of "filial piety".The father-son interaction is more reflected in the weak authority of the patriarchal discourse and the equalization of father-son relationship.From the characteristics,the identity of the "father" in the two types of family authority respectively corresponds to the symbolic authority of God and the sacred intention of the ancestors.The sacredness of the ancestors' beliefs is weakened,and with the influence of the way of faith,the authority of the Christian father in life is more weakened.The study discusses from the following three aspects.The first part compares Christianity and ancestor worship,and discusses how the family authority is formed.Then it sorts out and discusses the sacred foundation of the family authority,how to reflect the sacred identity of "father" in family relations,membership,family ethics and rituals of weddings and funerals,etc.The second part explores the concrete expression of family authority in patriarchal discourse and father-son interaction practice,including family education,family support,affairs management,emotional expression and daily communication.It explains how the family authority in daily life is embodied in an equal and individualized family relationship.The third part,in the research framework of "value-order",around the "family authority",the fathers and sons of different faiths in rural society have formed a relatively stable communication order,family norms and intergenerational relations.
