Heritage Protection And Popularization Of Cuju Nonmaterial Cultural Heritage

As one of China's traditional ethnic sports,Cuju,which is regarded as the origin of ancient football,has been included in the first national intangible cultural heritage list.As people pays much more attention in competitive sports,Cuju appears to play a less prominent role in current life.As a result,the inheritance and promotion of it need to be seriously confronted.Regarded as a sport for the noble in ancient times,Cuju has undergone the prosperity and decline over different dynasties,even the cultural dislocation in Ming and Qing dynasty.It,however,has never faded in the long course of history.Instead,considered as an intangible cultural heritage,Cuju has currently aroused our attention to protect and inherit it,which also gives us an opportunity to appreciate the glamour of this ancient sport.This essay firstly demonstrate a global overview of the rise and fall of Cuju,and then elaborately analyze the reason of that over the past two thousand years.Hence,we could gain a better perspective of Cuju,which could better promote its inheritance.Through reading a large number of documents,attending the academic seminars and lectures of experts--foreign and domestic--the author has gain a better view of the origin and development of Cuju.Besides,the author has been on an expedition in Linzi Football Museum,which lies in the birthplace of Cuju,interviewed relative experts and president,thus well informed of the current situation and problem of it.In this essay,a comparison is also displayed between ancient development and current situation of Cuju.Moreover,analysis in the relative problems and its role in foreign affairs and cultural communication has also been made.Finally,related proposal is provided in the inheritance and international promotion of Cuju as well,hopefully encouraging the further development of it.
