The first seven years after the founding of the People's Republic of China,from 1949 to 1956,were historically the transitional period for China to change from a new democratic society to a socialist society.In these seven years,the Communist Party of China(hereinafter referred to as CPC)led the Chinese nation to achieve successfully this historical transition.This special historical period was followed by the CPC's exploration and innovation in the field of higher education,thus opening a new page in the history of China's higher education.In the early days of New China,in order to clarify the Party's leadership in the field of higher education,many universities in the former Kuomintang-controlled areas,and private and church universities were successively taken over and reformed,intellectuals were reeducated in the ideological fields,and large-scale adjustment of departments and faculty were performed within universities.On this basis,the higher education system of socialist universities under the leadership of the Party Committee was created,the old feudal and even reactionary education was transformed smoothly,the new scientific and democratic education for masses was established,and the transformation from new democratic education to socialist education was realized.At the same time,the ideological and political education in colleges and universities under the leadership of the Party Committee was increasingly improved.The general policy of developing ideological and political education in institutions of higher learning in New China was established and formulated,and its leadership system and working organization was gradually improved as well.Then a comprehensive,systematic and complete curriculum system of political theory courses with Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought as the core was constructed,clarifying the guiding function of Marxism-Leninism in the ideology of colleges and universities in New China,providing the education of ideological and political theory in Chinese socialist colleges and universities with a new starting point.It initially formed the rudiment of Marxist theoretical education system in socialist colleges and universities with Chinese characteristics,and opened a new chapter in the ideological and political education for institutions of higher learning in New China.The Party's successful experience in developing ideological and political education in institutions of higher learning in the early days of New China has a profound historical impact on the ideological and political education in the new era.And it provides excellent realistic value for the ideological and political work for university students in China.This paper first discusses the serious situation of the transitional period from the new democratic society to the socialist society at home and abroad from the perspective of politics,economy and culture.Then,it expounds the historical facts that the Party established its leading position in the field of higher education in the early days after the founding of China.Next,it systematically and objectively clarifies the specific contents of the course system in colleges and universities during the transitional period.At the end,through practical analysis of the above issues,the paper sums up the brilliant experience and contemporary value for reference and application to the problems of ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new era.Taking the history of the Communist Party of China as a clue and applying the methods of literature analysis,historical theory combination and inductive summary,this paper makes an all-round investigation and research on the ideological and political theory education carried out by the Party in colleges and universities in the specific period of historical transformation in the early days since the founding of China,in which the detailed process of the establishment of the ideological and political education system in colleges and universities is systematically narrated,reflecting the improvement of the system under the leadership of the Party at that time.Additionally,the paper tries to find and summarize the working methods and valuable experience,makes an objective evaluation,explores the contemporary value and puts forward some thoughts.
