Objective: The main purpose is to study the effect of medical training therapy(MTT)on muscle strength, endurance, balance and flexibility of the elderly. The secondary purpose is to analyze the gender and training time choosing differences of these effects.Method: From July 22,2019 to August 30,2019,20 elderly people(10 men, average age 76.3 ± 3.4 years,10 women, average age 74.7 ± 5.7 years)were enrolled in Beijing Yanqing Orenda MT sports medical center.According to the training time, they were randomly divided into two groups,10 in the morning training group,10 in the afternoon training group with an average age of 76.5 ± 3.4 years, and 72.5 ± 9.5 years)MTT training was conducted for 6 weeks,3 times a week and 80 minutes each time, including 10 minutes of warm-up,60 minutes of strength training and balance training methods(including 45 minutes of strength training,6 strength training items such as trunk flexion, trunk extension, leg press, knee extension, rowing, and heel lifting).Balance training for 15 minutes, standing on one foot / two feet on the balance training instrument, combined with four balance training items such as open eye / close eye training, etc.,and cool down for 10 minutes. Before and after the training, the related indexes were evaluated(grip strength of hands, chair raising test,6-minute walking distance,2-minute step test, balance score on the Biodex SD,timed up and go,back scratch test, and sitting finger to tip test).SPSS 25.0 statistical software was used to process the data. The mean ± standard deviation was used to express the measurement data.Paired sample t test was used to analyze the training effect before and after training.Independent sample t test was used to analyze the gender difference and training time choosing difference.P < 0.05 was statistically significant and P < 0.01 was statistically significant. Results: 1.training effect:The grip strength of both left and right hands decreased after training compared with that before training and the difference of right hand was statistivally significant(P < 0.05).The average time of three times from sitting to standing after traing was reduced compared that before training(P < 0.01).In the endurance test, the 6-min walking test and the 2-min stepping test after training have significantly improved compared with those before training(P < 0.01).In the balance test, the Biodex balance test score was significantly reduced(P < 0.01)and the time for up-and-go test was significantly reduced as well(P < 0.01)compared those before training. In the flexibility test, there were not statistically significant in the back scratch test(P > 0.05).The result of finger-to-tip test in bilateral sitting position increased after training, and the difference in left side was statistically significant(P < 0.05).2.sex difference:There was no significant difference between men and women before and after training(P > 0.05).3.Training time choosing difference:Compared with the pre training group, the grip strength of both hands in the morning training group decreased significantly(P < 0.05).Compared with the morning group, the left hand grip strength in the afternoon training group increased more, and the right hand grip strength decreased less, the difference was statistically significant. In endurance, balance, flexibility and other test indicators, there was no significant difference between the morning training group and the afternoon training group before and after training(P > 0.05).Conclusion: 1.After short-term MTT,it can significantly improve the strength of the lower limbs, balance ability and endurance of the elderly, but not the grip strength and flexibility.2.In terms of gender difference, there is no gender difference in the effect of short-term MTT therapy on muscle strength, endurance, balance and flexibility of the elderly.3.The overall average grip strength of all subjects did not improve after training, but in terms of training time choosing, compare to morning training, afternoon training can increase left grip strength significantly. There is no significant difference in other indicators between morning training group and afternoon training group.
