Cross Cultural Adaptation Of Nigerian Students In China

With the continuous development of the world economy,the exchanges between Nigeria and China are increasingly frequent,except for politics and economics Where economic exchange takes place,cultural exchange also becomes one of the important exchanges between countries.Every year,A large number of Foreign students come to China for further study,forming a trend of studying in China,among which Nigerian students are one part of them.Nigerian students have their own characteristics,so some of the current research results of the cross-cultural adaptation on international students can not be fully applied to Nigerian students.This paper will take Nigerian students in China as the research object,investigate and analyze the cross-cultural adaptation of Nigerian students in China and its reasons.This paper consists of five chapters.In the first chapter,the introduction mainly introduces the purpose and significance of the research,the research status,including the process of cross-cultural adaptation,psychological adaptation of international students,social and cultural adaptation of international students,campus adaptation of international students,research methods and innovations.The second chapter introduces the survey objects,the design of the questionnaire,the distribution and recycling of the questionnaire,and the design of the interview framework.The third chapter is the core of this paper,according to the results of the survey statistics and analysis.The overall situation of the cross-cultural adaptation of Nigerian students is from language adaptation,psychological acculturation,life adaptation,cross-cultural communication and so on.This paper conducted a survey on 109 Nigerian international students and found that each of them had different levels and situation of cross-cultural adaptation.The fourth chapter mainly introduces the main problems in cross-cultural adaptation and their causes.The cross-cultural problems of Nigerian students include cultural conflicts,cross-cultural communication,Nigerian students' Chinese proficiency,and their insufficient understanding of Chinese culture.In this chapter,the causes of cultural conflicts in Nigeria are analyzed.The fifth chapter mainly focuses on specific strategies to improve cross-cultural adaptation ability,including improving the sense of belonging of international students to China,creating a better atmosphere of cultural exchange between China and foreign countries,establishing a cross-cultural education system for international students,improving teachers' cross-cultural teaching quality,and giving Suggestions to International students in Nigeria.Conclusion: Summarize the investigation results and problems,and put forward Suggestions for related problems.From the perspective of cross-cultural adaptation,this paper conducts a questionnaire survey on the cross-cultural adaptation of Nigerian students in China from four aspects: language adaptation,psychological adaptation,life adaptation and acculturation.The results show that the overall cross-cultural adaptability of Nigerian students to China is good.It is found that the psychological factors,cultural differences and Chinese proficiency level of Nigerian students have significant influence on intercultural communication adaptation.
