In recent years,emotional reality TV show,a type of television program,has attracted widespread attention of all sectors of media,and assembled more and more loyal fans and audience.Based on the functional view of communication,emotional reality TV show can have an impact on the perceptions,emotions and behaviors of audience.Therefore,the ethical values that are contained in these emotional reality TV shows will exert an influence to some degree on their gender view,friendship outlook,family value,consumption attitude and aesthetic standard.It is of great significance to analyze the ethical values in the reality TV shows to the audience,the guests of the program and the program itself.Ethics are often regarded as moral standards by which we deal with interpersonal relations the relation between human being and nature.This paper decodes the ethical metaphors contained in the reality TV show from the perspective of ethics and analyzes their effects on audience's ethical values.It doesn't only collect ethic misconducts,but also makes an attempt to seek a reasonable path for ethical norms.The paper is divided to six chapters.Chapter I is the introduction part,concerning the background and significance of the subject,the research review at home and abroad,innovative points and research methods.Chapter II unscrambles the developments and its context of emotional outdoor reality show.Chapter III probes into the social and artificial factors in its prevalence.Chapter IV analyzes the hidden ethical values in emotional outdoor reality TV show,including their view on gender,family,friendship,consumption and aesthetics.Chapter V reveals the ethic misconducts in emotional outdoor reality show,which are as follows.The program deliberately creates a virtual “reality”,in which the guests are closely watched just as in the film of The Truman Show;the audience have such an strong empathy with the guests as to immerse in an illusion;the commercial advertising never overlooks any opportunity to stimulate consumption;and cultural taboos are transmitted in the program.This chapter also specifies the impacts of the misconducts.Chapter VI is to reconstruct the decoded ethical values from the aspects of the program itself,the guests,the audience and the advertisers.That is to say,the program should be produced by documenting and observing rather than by planning and interfering;the guests should transform from performative behaviors to experiential participation;the audience should watch it as anaesthetic entertainment rather than a collective revelry of prying;the advertisers should transform from prominent product placement to cultivation of a new consumption concept;and it also needs legal means to cope with the ethic misconducts,promote the self-discipline of the media and regulate the media to comply with the professional ethics.
