In the process of piloting ideological and political education,mass media is one of the important carriers.Taking full advantage of the "political orientation" function of the mass media is an important part of ideological and political education.Since the 18th National Congress,China has always stressed the need to build China's own discourse system for dialogue and dissemination,to improve its discourse ability,and to improve the country's cultural soft power.Comparative studies on ideological and political education should bear the responsibility of studying and constructing China's propaganda system.Take a broad view of the international society,the American mass media has a sound system,with prominent political function and influential political orientation.Studying the operational mechanism of the political orientation of the American media will help China better complete the political socialization-This article takes the coverage of Tibet from major local newspapers in the United States from 1949 to 1988 as an example to study the political orientation of the American mass media.By comparing the differences between U.S.policies towards China and Tibet during these three periods,the article explores the relationship between demand of different political powers and mass media.Chapter 1 explains the background and significance of the research,the research status,the research methods,research difficulties and innovations.Chapters 2,3,and 4 analyze the reporting background,core issues,and political orientation embodied in reports during the period of the Sino-U.S.confrontation period,the Sino-U.S.ice-breaking period,and the Sino-U.S.difficult period.Chapter 5 discusses the general characteristics of political orientation of Tibetan newspapers in the United States,and analyzes its social function.Chapter 6 puts forward corresponding suggestions for the construction of China's foreign discourse system.
