There are a large number of lakes in northwest China, which contain abundant lake resources. These lake resources are the natural resources that contribute to the social development in northwest China, especially the lake water resources, which is an indispensable resource in the social development process in northwest China. However,in arid and semi-arid geographical conditions, most of these lakes are saltwater lakes, and the proportion of fresh water lakes is very low, which makes the utilization rate of lake water resources limited. In order to make full use of lake resources, especially lake water resources to help promote social production progress,we need to explore and adopt a variety of ways of utilization. The development of the Ming and qing dynasties made great progress in social production in northwest China. In this thesis,we use historical data analysis, data comparison and demonstration to explore the utilization of lake resources in this process. It can provide a glimpse of the role played by lake resources in the development of the northwest region during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and explore the relationship between the utilization of lake resources and social development. There are some theoretical explorations of the use of lake resources in the northwest during the Ming and Qing dynasties. However, most of these lakes' resource utilization thoughts are included in the theoretical exploration of water conservancy construction in the northwest region. Therefore, the use of the ideological data of water resources in the northwest region to study the utilization of lake resources during this period is an important means for this part of the study. The thoughts of lake utilization in the Ming and Qing dynasties have inheritance relations. Most of them are considered from the perspectives of disaster relief, water storage and drought relief, and drainage discharge. The construction of reservoir ponds in the Ming Dynasty was also inherited by Qing Dynasty. The theory of Western lake science was absorbed in the late Qing Dynasty, indicating that the idea of lake resource utilization was influenced by social development.Lake water plays a certain role in the process of agricultural development in Northwest China. However,as far as the entire northwestern region is concerned,it plays a different role in different regions. In areas with abundant rivers and abundant water resources, lakes and rivers complement each other and undertake the work of regulating the amount of water, such as the Ningxia plain and the guanzhong plain; In areas where other forms of surface water resources are scarce, lake ponds may become the main source of water for local development, such as the Liulinhu area and Barkol area;In Xinjiang, the canals connected to the lake and the pools that appeared along with the Karez well reflect the interaction between social production methods and natural resources. The lakes in the city are closely related to the life of urban residents and urban development.Since lakes in cities have different types and roles, the utilization of urban lake pool resources can be explored from three aspects:the value of water resources, landscape and literary values, and the value of specific lakes. The development of urban lakes is more dependent on human activities, and is closely related to urban water conservancy construction, urban planning and urban landscape development.Other kinds of lake resources also play different roles in human social life in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.Lake plant resources, animal resources, and mineral resources all have different roles in the diet, medicine, and heating of human social life. They are direct and concrete manifestations of human society's development and utilization of lake resources. From Ming to Qing, although the number of salt pool has increased, there has been no major change in its geographical distribution. The production of pool salt has matured in the Ming dynasty.During the long-term exploration, people have come up with ways to collect salt suitable for the geographical environment of the Northwest China. In addition, some lakes have special significance in folk beliefs.
