Evaluation Of The Applicability Of The Cumulus And Boundary Layer Scheme To Xinjiang's Climate

In order to examine ability of seven Cumulus Convective Parameterization schemes(CCPS)and six Planetary Boundary Layer Parameterization Schemes(PBLPS)in climate simulating over the Xinjiang Province,the two kinds of parameterization schemes in WRF 3.8.1 driven by The NCEP-FNL reanalysis dataset are applied to simulate climate over Xinjiang province regions with 10-km horizontal resolution.Spatial distributions and temporal evolutions of meteorological elements are focused.The analysis results are as follows:(1)The vertical structure of the atmosphere and the spatial pattern of annual and rainy seasonal precipitation and temperature can be simulated well by WRF with seven CCPS.For different regions,the correlation coefficients of precipitation between the simulated and observed were in the range of 0.20 to 0.85 and correlation coefficients of temperature between the simulated and observed were above 0.98.In rainy season for Xinjiang region,the humidity in the lower layer simulated by model compared with observation is dryer,and temperature is warmer.As a result,the simulated atmospheric stratification tends to be more stable than observations,which leads to precipitation underestimation in the simulations.For the Tianshan area where the most precipitation in Xinjiang region,the annual and rainy seasonal precipitation simulated by WRF with Kain-Fritsch(new Eta)scheme are closer to observations,with the deviations of precipitation are in the range of-29.07% to-23.81%.The evolution of precipitation can also be simulated well by model with Kain-Fritsch(new Eta)scheme,with the correlation coefficient is 0.85.In the test result of daily precipitation forecast,the TS score of light rain simulated with Kain-Fritsch(new Eta)scheme is 0.70.Precipitation and temperature simulated by WRF with Kain-Fritsch(new Eta)scheme is better that with other CCPS.Therefore,cumulus convective parameterization schemes with WRF model in the Xinjiang region should be well considered.(2)The deviation of temperature is little different between the simulated with six PBLPS and observed,which is within 2.5?.The correlation coefficients of temperature between the simulated and observed were above 0.98.The precipitation simulated significantly improve by model with six PBLPS.For the Tianshan area,the deviation of rainy season precipitation between simulated with Grenier-Bretherton-Mc Caa(GBM)scheme and observed which is 15.84%,and the correlation coefficient of precipitation is 0.89.The TS score of moderate rain is 0.37 in the test result of daily precipitation forecast simulated with GBM scheme.For the region covered by different vegetation in the Tianshan area,the day and night precipitation is less in the simulations with various schemes than in the observations and the deviation in the night is greater than in the day,while it can be well simulated by model with GBM scheme with the deviation of precipitation is within 5mm.Therefore,the adaptation study of CCPS and PBLPS in climate simulating over Xinjiang region shows that: the climatic characteristics simulated by WRF3.8.1 with the combination of Kain-Fritsch(new Eta)scheme and GBM scheme are closer to observation in Xinjiang.
