Electrochromism can be defined as the change of color on the surface of materials for the result of electrochemical oxidation or reduction.Electrochromic materials are one of functional materials,which have broad applications in the flat panel display,information storage,glare-free mirror,smart window and other fields.Organic electrochromic materials have been the focus in the yield of electrochromism for many advantages,which including high color contrast ratios,multicolor capability,easy to form the structure and so on.The Schiff bases are a kind of organic compounds,which include C=N group,also named imine.Usually,they are synthesized by condensation of primary amines or of lively amino compounds and carbonyl compounds.The structures of Schiff base are generally R1R2C=NR3(R1=H,R2 or R3=alkyl,aryl or heterocycle),which have the conjugated moiety.Also,they have many advantages such as facile improvement,low cost,and simple fabrication process.Different Schiff base with variety application can be prepared by changing the parent compound and linked substituent.In this paper,we design a series of Schiff base and reduction Schiff base molecules,based on the classic phenomenon of the electrochromic and the special conjugated structure of Schiff base.In one side of–C=N–bond,we introduced furan group and thiophene group,which have electrochromic properties.In the other side,we introduced triphenylamine and its derivatives group,which have good ability of hole-transport and can be the material of electron donor.Furthermore,the Schiff bases have excellent performance of electrochromic and acid photochromic.In the thesis,all compounds were characterized by 1HMR,FT-IR spectroscopy.Then,we discussed the electrochromic,acid photochromic,and electrochemical properties by UV-vis spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry techniques.The results showed that the electrochromic color of Schiff base and reduction Schiff base has a significant difference.The color of Schiff base changed from yellow to red,and the color of reduction Schiff base changed from yellow to red.By being doped with HCl molecules,the color Schiff base mainly changed from yellow to red.In the analysis of the electrochemical performance,the change trend of Eg measured experimentally is consistent with the theoretical value,which is calculated through computer simulation.Furthermore,the Schiff bases and reduction Schiff bases designed in this paper not only are a new member of photochromic materials,but also provide the material and theoretical baseis for the electrochemical synthesis of PolySchiff base and Polyreduction Schiff base.
