"Writing" is a kind of symbolic inscriptions under the influence of Chinese culture,the trace of the main bodies’ will,and the energy conversion of the life.In this article for exploring the writing prolongation,the writer studied and combed the characterization of “writing” in contemporary jewelry,combining experiences of calligraphy study and contemporary jewelry research.Derrida,a contemporary French Jewish philosopher,used “trace” to describe ‘writing’ in his book Writing and Difference.He said,“The thought of traces is to show us the origin of non-existence”.Therefore,"writing" can also be understood as incisions related to scratches accompanied by grating and a trace mixture of depicting,trail,cutting,or penetration.Writing fills in the transforming process of Chinese culture,from nature and objects to body,from representation and abstraction to image.From ancient Chinese calligraphies and paintings to western modern painting,then contemporary concept art,writing seems to open the realm of art’s life.When jewelry entered the upper space of perception,and became the symbol of "self" for communicating "reality" and "inherence”.Artists,wearers,and appreciators,who served as the main bodies of independent spirit,have depicted a strong subjective and dynamic consciousness for contemporary jewelry.In this paper,taking the "trace" writing of text,image,sound and body for examples,we want to express the narrative nature of jewelry hidden in the construction of self and other’s behavior between artists,wearers and viewers.Therefore,we hope to combine the idea of the "traces" of writing with the concrete practice of contemporary jewelry art,re-conceiving another practical significance of "writing ".
