Objective:To observe and compare the improvement of clinical symptoms and quality of life of spleen deficiency and qi stagnation syndrome of postprandial distress syndrome(PDS)by abdominal acupuncture(AA)therapy and XiangShaLiuJunZi Decoction(XSLJZD).To evaluate the efficacy and safety of AA in the treatment of PDS,and to provide scientific and objective clinical basis for the application and promotion of AA in digestive system diseases.Methods:All 63 patients diagnosed with spleen deficiency and qi stagnation syndrome of PDS were randomly allocated to experimental group(AA therapy,n=31)and control group(XSLJZD,n=32).In the experimental group,the AA treatment prescription was Zhongwan(RN 12),Xiawan(RN 10),Qihai(RN 6),Guanyuan(RN 4),Tianshu(ST 25),Daheng(SP 15),Shangfengshidian,patients were treated for once a day,5 days per week for a course of treatment,2 days interval to the next course of treatment for a total of 4 weeks.In the control group,patients took one dose of XSLJZD daily,half a dose each in the morning and evening for a total of 4 weeks.The observed results included Functional dyspepsia index(FDI),Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score and Functional Digestive Disorders Quality of Life(FDDQL),and the scores of before and after treatment were recorded.Results:(1)Prior to treatment,there were no statistical differences in age,sexual,body mass index(BMI),course of disease,FDI,TCM syndrome score and FDDQL with its subterms between the two groups(P>0.05),indicating that the two groups were comparable.(2)There were significant differences in the FDI before and after the treatment in both groups(P<0.05).By analysis of the pre-post-change scores,there was a greater improvement of total FDI in the experimental group compared to that in the control group,especially in terms of postprandial fullness and early satiety(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the epigastric pain and burning scores before and after the treatment between two groups(P>0.05).(3)There were significant differences in the TCM syndrome scores before and after the treatment in both groups(P<0.05).By analysis of the pre-post-change scores,there was a greater improvement of primary and secondary symptoms in the experimental group compared to that in the control group(P<0.05).(4)There were significant differences in the FDDQL before and after the treatment in both groups(P<0.05).By analysis of the pre-post-change scores,there was a greater improvement of total FDDQL in the experimental group compared to that in the control group,especially in terms of activities,anxiety,discomfort and impact of stress(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in other items before and after the treatment between two groups(P>0.05).(5)At the end of treatment,the total effective rate of the experimental group was 90%,the control group was 83.33%,from the result,there was a slightly better effective rate in the experimental group than that of control group,but there was no statistical differences in both groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:AA treatment of spleen deficiency and qi stagnation syndrome of PDS has a clear curative effect,it has significantly improved the symptoms of indigestion,such as fullness and early satiety after meals.Also,it has significantly improved the quality of life of patients,especially for daily activities,worries,stress,discomfort.Furthermore,AA has painless and safety characteristics and it’s easy to be accepted by patients,so this therapy is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
