Research On The Musical Style And Performance Techniques Of Kushakov's "Winter", "Autumn" And "Spring" Accordion Suites

Anatoly Ivanovich Kusyakov(1945-2007),whose works are highly praised by world accordion circle,is a master of composition for accordion in 20th century of Russia.His plenty of works show the unique charm of modern music as well as the traditional Russian music characteristics through innovative melody and high skills.Kusyakov composed prolific works throughout his live,involving symphony,chamber music,instrumental solo and other music genres,including much excellent accordion music.He composed the three unique and representative works of“Winter Sketches","Autumnal Sceneries" and "Spring Divisions" in 1981,1988 and 1999 retrospectively.The composer added his own innovation on the traditional mode,structure and harmony by using a skill of integration among classical,folk and modern musical types.This thesis analyses the three suites by three steps as follow:1.A brief introduction of the development of accordion music in Russia together with the musical creation of accordion by Kusyakov;2.Introduce the styles and characteristics of the three suites through:the completeness of the music conception,the descriptiveness of the melody and the integrity of classical,folk and modern musical types;3.Analyse the performance of selected movements from the suites.By analysing the art solving of the Allegros of "Northern Wind" and "Fallen Leaves" as well as the skills of tenuto in Andantes,the musical skills and emotions will be discussed.This thesis is aimed to contribute to the study of Kusyakov' s works by analysing the accordion suites of“Winter Sketches","Autumnal Sceneries”and“Spring Divisions",concluding his composition characteristics and uniqueness and developing the value of performance and music solving of his works.
