Simulated Practice Report On English-Chinese Consecutive Interpreting-Biden's Speech At Sichuan University

In this English-Chinese consecutive interpretation,the author took Biden’s speech in Sichuan University in August 2011 as the corpus and finished the simulative consecutive interpretation independently.The report consists of four parts: task introduction,preparation for the interpretation,problems in this simulative interpretation and the corresponding strategies,summary and conclusion.In the first part,the author briefly introduces this simulative consecutive interpretation.The second part mainly illustrates the preparation work,which includes the collection of background information of the speech and the speaker Joseph Biden,the analysis of his related speeches and articles;on this basis,the author summarizes the speech characteristics of the speaker and some high-frequency words.The third part is the core of this report.According to the interpretation recordings,the author finds out mistakes and problems occurred in this simulative interpretation and employ some corresponding strategies.The final part is about what could be learnt from this practice.
