| BeiJian JuJian is the great Zen monk in the Southern Song Dynasty and he is famous for his poetry and prose.His poems are not only numerous but also have high artistic level.He enjoys making friends with]iterati and officials such as Ye Shi,Zhao Shixiu,Gao Zhu,Han Biao,Liu Guo,Lou Yao,Zhen Dexiu and so on.They often compose verses and exchange with each other.This process is not only the process of making friends but also the process of thought collisions,which influences the literary creation of both sides in a subtle way.At present,there are few studies on his life story and poems,especially the detailed interpretation and analysis of his poems.This paper is divided into four chapters,focusing on BeiJian JuJian and his poems.The first chapter mainly inspects BeiJian JuJian’s life story,character and the edition and circulation of his works.Born in a Confucian family,he also loves to read the Buddhist sutras from the cradle.At the age of 21,he was shaved by Yuan Chen in the Guan Fu Yuan.After that Ju Jian’s life experiences can be roughly divided into four periods:travel and study,make a splash of fame,live in seclusion in Bei Jian,have high prestige.Ju Jian is thin,tolerant,unrestrained and indifferent to fame and wealth.As a monk,he is not isolated but willing to make friends with people and has the true feelings.Ju Jian has lots of writings including poetry collection of Bei Jian,corpus of Bei Jian,gatha of Monk Bei Jian,and the quotation of Monk Bei Jian Ju Jian.The second chapter studies the acquaintance of BeiJian JuJian.Ju Jian has a wide range of friends in his life.His friends are both great literati and officials such as Ye Shi,Lou Yue and figures from the bottom of the society such as pen-makers,people who paint bamboo leaves.This chapter explores the friendship of Ju Jian from the two angles of literati and monks,and then analyzes the friends of Ju Jian from the aspects of region,character identity,personality,talent,official position,political position,schools of thought.Ju Jian’s friends involve many poetic schools,such as Jianghu Poetic School,Jiangxi Poetic School,Neo-Confucianism Poetic School and so on.The comprehensive investigation of Ju Jian’s friendship can help to explore the factors that influence Ju Jian’s poetry creation.The third chapter explores the themes of BeiJian JuJian’s poems.The poems of BeiJian JuJian are rich in theme and content,which can be roughly divided into four categories:the poems of worrying about the country and people,the poems of landscape,the exchange poems of making friends,and the Buddhist poems.The fourth chapter discusses the artistic features of BeiJian JuJian’s poems.The overall feature of Ju Jian’s poems is simple,quaint,gorgeous and delicate.Ju Jian has about 1684 poems.From the perspective of poetic form,there are quatrain,Chinese metrical verse,long poem in regulated verse,ancient poem,four-character poem and six-character poem.From the view of poetic style,quatrain is fresh and beautiful,Chinese metrical verse is mature and neat,and ancient poem is forceful and quaint.It can be said that all kinds of poetic forms are available and the styles are diverse.The language of Ju Jian’s poem presents the features of simplicity,quaintness,concinnity and forcefulness.Ju Jian is also good at developing rich comments and using accurate and broad allusions in poetry creation. |
