Research On The Ideal Personality Of Women In The Han Dynasty

Female ideal personality,can reflect the expectation and setting of female personality in the mainstream society of the era.The Han Dynasty is an important transition period in the history of Confucian culture,also a transition period for the ideal personality formation of traditional Chinese women.Before the Han Dynasty,there’s a more open society,where all kinds of ideas blend mutually,women’s status is higher,and the Confucian personality preaching,of wifely submission and virtue,is not taken seriously,while Female ideal personality is relatively independent and free,and is not completely as molded by Confucian.After the Han Dynasty,the patriarchal feudal society continues to develop and the Female ideal personality is gradually strengthened by the Confucian ethics and moral thought,going to the extreme at the Ming and Qing Dynasty.The ideal female personality in Han Dynasty is mainly embodied in theory and reality.From the perspective of Confucianism,a group of scholars of the Han Dynasty put forward the ideal female personality theory of "my fair lady","virtuous and virtuous" and "soft and weak" for the female society.But for various reasons,there is a difference between theory and reality.Women class structure in Han Dynasty is complex,the society’s expection on quality of Female ideal personality of each class is different,women personality ideal between the individual and the group also exists obvious differences.According to the marital status and family role,this paper divides women in the Han Dynasty into three roles: daughters,wives and mothers,and discusses the personality traits of their ideal personality respectively.Among these,the ideal daughter’s personality requires that the daughter should be filial and obedient to parents,and mourn during the funeral,revenge for parents;The ideal wife is expected to bear children,do housework,keep family harmony in life,and help her husband in times of adversity,including their virginity;The ideal mother’s personality requires the mother to have a loving heart,and teach her children.The Han Dynasty is built on the ruins of the Qin Dynasty.As the beginning of the feudal society,the whole society is open.Female ideal personality presents a diversified development and the ideal personality of different roles,different classes has different characteristics.With unceasingly mature and perfect Confucian ethics relation theory,and Confucian social diffusion,the Female ideal personality in Han Dynasty gradually restrained by the Confucian ideal personality,losing its relative independence and freedom,being increasingly similiar with the ideal personality advocated by the Confucian.The Female ideal personality forming in Han Dynasty maintains the stability of the feudal society,and promotes the formation of traditional Chinese female character.It also produces an important influence on women’s thinking,character,ideas of han dynasty and later generations.
