Research On Wu Zanzhou, The Governor Of Puppet Hebei Province

After the July 7 Incident of 1937,the Japanese army attacked China in a large scale and occupied the places of North China,central China and Southern China and they set up a puppet regime in these areas.Through these puppet regimes,Japan bought,organized and used the traitors in a large amount,so the traitor phenomenon was the objective existence of the war of resistance against Japan.Only by analyzing the traitor phenomenon and studying the traitor problem can we have a clearer understanding of Japan’s aggression against China,so as to enhance our understanding of the arduous and complexity of the war,enhance our national consciousness and enhance our national cohesion.Therefore,the study of the individual of the traitors is of great significance both in political sense and from the view of the ideological and ideological education of the national standpoint.Based on the archives from the Hebei Archives,The Second Historical Archives of China and National Library of China and the studies of the scholars,this paper attempts to study the whole life of Wu Zanzhou and his society representativeness from the point of Wu Zanzhou’s serving as traitor and his social activities during his term of office.This paper is divided into 4 parts:the first part is about the early career of Wu Zanzhou and the causes of his betrayal.The analysis of Wu Zanzhou’s family background,his educational experience,his activities in the period of Beiyang government and his ten years life in peace and seclusion.Through the above analysis,the reasons of Wu Zanzhou’s betrayal comes to light.The second part is about the analysis of Wu Zanzhou’s behavior in pseudo grassroots organization where he served as the puppet vigilante leader of ZhengDing,the puppet governor of the ZhengDing city and the puppet leader of BaoDing.Then the organization and the operation mode of the puppet regime of North China is discussed.The third focuses on the analysis of Wu Zanzhou’s treason when he served as the puppet provincial governor.From the politic,economy,mind,action and other aspects,this paper studies the governor’s activities under the rule of the Japanese army.The last is to discuss Wu Zanzhou’s post-war life and his social representative,then reflect the generality of the puppet provincial governor in the complex historical environment.Wu Zanzhou’s traitorous acts warn us that even though we are in peace now,we should strengthen our education of patriotic sentiments.Wu Zanzhou’s final outcome tells us that any act of betraying national sovereignty and interests will pay at a cost.
