Jia Pingwa is a contemporary writer with strong social responsibility and consciousness of historical mission.In his literary works,he probes deeply into the society and introspect on the history of contemporary and modern Chinese society.And the Cultural Revolution,a historic disaster in contemporary China,is what every writer should pay attention to and reflect on.Jia Pingwa’s work China presents readers with a distinctive kind of art expression of the Cultural Revolution from his unique literary narrative perspective.This paper/thesis/dissertation,from a bird’s eye view of contemporary literary narration of the Cultural Revolution,chooses Jia Pingwa’s novel masterpiece China as the research object.It and gives an in-depth discussion from the perspective of humanity and history construction on the features and contributions of its art expression on the Cultural Revolution.The novel takes the village where he lived in his childhood as prototype,and tells stories happened in the village called china during the revolution.It restores the revolution in a realistic approach,depicting a panorama of people trying to survive that huge social change in rural China;Jia portrays the whole Cultural Revolution through the tragedy of the village China.This novel is a breakthrough in the narration of the revolution with him probing into the national culture and characteristics of the revolution,especially into the manifold manifestation of the national character.It is also a deep analysis of national culture and a millstone of the narration of human nature.This paper/thesis/dissertation discusses China,a novel with the new perspective on the Cultural Revolution,in the following aspects.The introduction part is the analysis of the study on the Cultural Revolution in the novel China.The second part is a brief summary of the contemporary literary narration of the Cultural Revolution,especially Jia Pingwa’s literary narration of the revolution as a way to present the background of the novel;then,from the viewpoint of human nature,the author makes a more in-depth study on the characteristics and contribution of this work in the aesthetic connotation.And the spiritual connotation and artistic appeal of this work are also analyzed and discussed.Through the above,readers can have a deep understanding of the connotation and artistic achievements of this work.The author’s writing intention can also be grasped,and the literary narration of this kind of subject can be further improved.The reason why China stands out among all the Cultural Revolution works lies in its unique narrative style and distinctive and profound narrative connotation.It is not only a simple novel on the Cultural Revolution.More importantly,it triggers people’s reflection on the revolution and human nature.In today’s society featured by political stability and affluence,social unrest is suppressed by law,and the rebellion in human nature and evil desire are also repressed by the relatively stable environment.However,when you look back at the history,some of the phenomena in China can be very allusive,which is well worth thinking deeply about.This may be the social historical value and literary and artistic value of China.
