This thesis considers Chekhov's stories as a subject of research based on syntagmatic analysis in order to identify the semiotic features of the text.Syntagma is one of the most important dimensions and operational concepts of semiotic analysis. As a semiotic system, the text also has the semiotic property of the signifier and signified. The signifier refers to the expression of the plane, and the denotation refers to the content of the plane. Both of them become two points of attention syntagmatic analysis of the text.According to the Danish linguist Ermslev, expression and content include substance and form separately, namely: expression ?substance of expression and form of expression;content ? substance of content and form of content.Syntagmatic analysis of the text is based on coherence and is closely related to the context.Coherence is naturally projected onto the substance of expression, substance of content, form of expression, form of content that represent morphological, pragmatic, logical and cognitive coherence of the text.Their actualization largely depends on the internal context, the external context, the logical context and the cognitive context of the text.It is these contexts that create the main framework for syntagmatic text analysis. This main framework is used to analyze and read the stories of Chekhov. In order to ensure the coherence of the text in the internal, external, logical and cognitive contexts, methods and means have been applied, which are disclosed in numerous specific examples from Chekhov's stories.Analysis in the aspect of internal, external, logical and cognitive contexts contributes to a deep understanding of the text and at the same time proposes a new angle for the study of the text. This thesis consists of an introduction, three chapters and conclusion. The introduction substantiates the position of the study in the country and abroad, the theoretical and practical significance, the important and difficult points and the basic structure of the chosen topic. The first chapter is devoted to the corresponding theory, the relations between signs, semiotics, language semiotics and text semiotics are clearly defined, the main framework of syntagmatic text analysis is outlined. In the second chapter,a syntagmatic analysis of the substance of the text is considered using examples from Chekhov's stories, including an analysis of internal and external contexts. In the third chapter,a syntagmatic analysis of the form of the text is carried out using examples from Chekhov's stories, including the analysis of logical and cognitive contexts. In the conclusion summarizes the results of the study.
