Research On Pixar Animation Film Personality Symbols

Pixar animation film has both high box office and high reputation,it behind a successful commercial animation film model.With the help of the personality trait theory,this paper analyzes the inherent characteristics of the characters in pixar animation films,explores the cultural orientation behind the choice of characters,and explores the American values and their cultural foundation behind them.The first chapter Outlines the development process of personality research,focusing on the most influential personality research paradigm--the five-factor model of personality,describing the personality traits specifically contained in the five dimensions of extraversion,agreeableness,conscientiousness,neuroticism or emotional stability,and openness to experience.It also discusses the relationship between personality and personality symbol,and concludes five typical personality symbols: neurotic personality symbol,extroverted personality symbol,open personality symbol,agreeable personality symbol and conscientious personality symbol.The second chapter analyzes the neurotic personality symbol,extroverted personality symbol,open personality symbol,pleasant personality symbol and conscientious personality symbol in the characters of pixar animation films,and divides the characters with the same internal traits in the 20 animated feature films together to study the types of internal traits preferred by pixar animation studios.In addition,the types of personality symbols in leading roles,supporting roles and villains are sorted out to study the distribution rules of characters’ inner traits.The third chapter discusses the presentation means of personality symbol in pixar animation films.First of all,this paper explores how pixar animation films visually present characters’ inner traits,namely personality symbols,from the perspectives of shape,color,line,light and shade,and space.Secondly,from the perspective of "three-part" narrative structure,narrative time and sequel narrative,this paper discusses how pixar animation films present personality symbols through narration.Finally,the paper analyzes the strengthening effect of diverse symbols such as social and cultural symbols,commercial symbols and music symbols on personality symbols shown in pixar animation films.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the values of independence,cooperation,adventure,fraternity and dedication embodied in the personality symbol of pixar animation films,as well as the religious,historical,commercial and other cultural foundations behind them.It reveals the value selection tendency of film role creation and the audience’s unconscious identification.The fifth chapter summarizes the outstanding role creation of pixar animation films and provides a new perspective for the role creation of Chinese animation films.
