The Study Of The Characters In Chagall's Paintings And The Enlightenment To My Creation

Chagall is a French painter of Belarusian origin,whose paintings were created in a modernist way with profound emotional experience and personal characteristics under the unique background of Jewish religion.The connotation and manifestation of the art works have distinct era characteristics.After the inspiration of illogical rules combines formal symbols with aesthetic factors and baptism of Cubism and Fauvism,it has formed a unique and magical Chagall style.The creation of characters in paintings is not only closely related to the era and painter's life,but also carries the painter's personal feelings and artistic pursuit.As the turbulence and upheaval of his life,the characters mainly come from the poor Jews,family members and lovers in his hometown.Main characters in Chagall's paintings have multi-level connotations,from the genuine and natural style in early stage to the full lyric explosion after being infected by Cubism and Fauvism styles,and then to the later geometric shape,color block segmentation and dust-raising method in his later years,all of which show us Chagall's artistic innovation,constantly bursting out inspiration and artistic enthusiasm in artistic creation.By studying the styles of characters in Chagall's works of different themes and stages,this paper systematically explores the subjective treatment of the spiritual level of the characters and the inclusive artistic language,so as to have a deeper understanding of Chagall's style.We have made an in-depth study of the works in three aspects: religion,metaphor and emotion.Religion is the most important and inseparable element in Chagall's paintings,symbolic metaphor enhanced the deep and hidden meanings of the characters in the paintings and emotion deepens the theme of love.Through the study we can fully understand Chagall's deeper connotation and artistic techniques in the treatment of the characters and draw more inspiration,so as to strengthen the ability of character shaping and make a more diversified attempt.
