Looking At The Expression Space Of Light And Shadow In Chinese Painting From Tian Liming's Works

With the development of the times and the influence of Western learning spreading eastward,Chinese painting,on the basis of inheriting the fine tradition,draws on many advantages,integrates Western painting elements into Chinese painting,and under its constant exploration and innovation,the use of the element of light and shadow in Chinese painting is increasingly widespread.As an important painting language,light and shadow is not only used to depict natural objects,but also as an artistic language to create the artistic conception of a work and an information symbol to convey feelings.It is compatible with the characteristics of modern painting that focus on the composition of pictures and thoughts and emotions.More and more artists in Chinese painting try to use traditional ink to express light and shadow,which is a modern element.On the basis of maintaining tradition,Chinese painting not only enriches and develops the manifestation of Chinese painting,but also expands the expressive space of Chinese painting.Light and shadow language has a broader space for development in Chinese painting.We should explore the expressive force and artistic effect of light and shadow from a new angle,and further understand the expressive space of light and shadow language.As a representative of the contemporary painter Tian Liming,the light and shadow in the picture has become an important painting language and personal style symbol.This article focuses on the contemporary painter Tian Liming’s works as an example,starting from Tian Liming’s era background and personal introduction,to analyze Tian Liming’s painting characteristics;and to recognize the difference between the light and shadow in Tian Liming’s works and that in Western paintings,to further analyze how Tian Liming brings light and shadow into the picture through the expression of ink,color and artistic conception;to explore how Tian Liming is like this.He transformed light and shadow into his own painting language and applied it in thepicture,thus realizing the breakthrough of traditional language and expanding the expressive space of Chinese painting.In addition,combining with my own experience in creation and narration,this paper analyzes Tian Liming’s use of light and shadow language,and summarizes the inspiration for my own creation theme and painting language.
