According to the real background of HuaTianyou, the article emphasizes on the several important stage of his life——following the sculptor named JiangXiaojian to be an assistant, renovating Arhat(luohan)Sculpture in the Bao Sheng Temple and going abroad for further study.Because of the poverty of his family situation,he was subjected to losing the chance for learning and scraped by borrowing money in his earlier childhood. So he devoted himself to creating lots of art works in the art normal school, being praised for many times and came out in front. There is a vital beginning of his art career that he acquainted with XuBeihong.Although learning at Paris art college,he had had not master the foreign language, not get enough food and clothes and eventually fallen in a deep sense of despair several times. He continued to hold on to the last and endure hardships.Faced to the threat of Japanese enemy,HuaTianyou was deeply-concerned about the security of homeland. He got inspiration from the chaos of war and his own living condition, dedicating himself to sculpt works with a raging emotion, and then emerging great works like?bombardment??The May 4th Movement?and so forth. The second part analyzes how the works of Mr.Hua permeate the romantic elements from the typical romantic philosophy. This part is divided into three sections, which are moral aspect(sincerity, truth),aesthetics aspect(architectural sense)and social aspect(freedom). From a new angle and a new point of the view, this paper argues that under the background of realism, there is a cultural factor of romanticism in the west where he studied abroad,in the east of existence and in the life of his art. This study will be of great significance to the future of generations participating in art practice.
