Tanizaki Junichilo is a writer who can represent Japanese aestheticism literature.With its rich literary output,original and unique writing style and far-reaching influence in Japanese literary circles,Tanizaki has been honored as "great literary hero" and "big Tanizaki".Making a lot of achievements in the research of Tanizaki recent years,the academia has laid a valuable foundation for later researchers.With the abundant translation and introduction of Tanizaki’s prose and essays in China,the study of Tanizaki’s aesthetic thoughts has been constantly warming up.As an aesthetic concept put forward by Tanizaki himself,the concept of“Shadow Aesthetics”has also aroused extensive interest of researchersThis article will focus on the concept of "Shadow Aesthetics",and show Tanizaki’s world of shadow from the aspects of aesthetic cultural background,ontological stipulation,subjective accomplishment,aesthetic realm and classical return of the present era.Still,this article also include the aesthetic thoughts embodied in Tanizaki’s literary works and prose essays are sorted out logically and systematically,and the connotation,extension,inner spirit and charm of Tanizaki’s essays are fully understood,as well as the reference significance for future generations’development.This article is divided into five parts:introduction,five chapters of main body,and conclusion.In the body,the first part explores the background of the birth of Shadow Aesthetics and discusses it in three parts.The first part introduces the natural and geographical conditions of Japan,which laid the foundation for the formation of Shadow Aesthetics.The second part introduces the background of the birth of Shadow Aesthetics and explains that the expectation of "Shadow Aesthetics Home" was formed in eastern and Western cultures.In the collision,the third part introduces the influence of the dark and silent aesthetic tradition of Japanese tradition on the formation of the Shadow Aesthetics and illustrates the inheritance and development of the Shadow Aesthetics to the traditional culture.These three parts explain the foundation of the birth of Shadow Aesthetics from different angles.In the second part,starting from the noumenon of the Shadow Aesthetics,which points out that shadow is the product of the blending of light and shadow.This part also fully explains the dialectical relationship between light and shadow and the process of forming shadow,clarifies the birth mechanism of shadow,and discovers the importance of shadow and the relationship between shadow and life from the characteristics of light and shadow.The third part elaborates the subjective accomplishment of appreciating the Shadow Aesthetics,which includes three levels:firstly,observing the object in the spirit of harmony,grasping the harmony of light and shadow from the overall point of view and avoiding the disharmony between subject and object;secondly,for fully investing one’s feelings in things from the "heart" to achieve the spiritual state of "material sorrow";thirdly,to grasp the essence of shadow,and avoid the disharmony between subject and object.The essence of life lies in disability.The beauty contained in disability is found,and the relationship between disability and perfection is transformed.The fourth part describes the aesthetic realm of Shadow Aesthetics,which is elucidated from three angles:natural rhyme,privacy interest and implication.The first part explains the beauty of harmony between man and nature,ecological,architectural and environmental perspectives.The second part choose the perspective of concealment and privacy,explores the gloomy and dark spiritual temperament and the core of sex concept in Japanese literature,film and television works.The third part discusses the aesthetic concepts embodied in Japanese painting,music and architectural style from the implicit and implied beauty represented by Shadow Aesthetics.The fifth part,starting from the angle of "classical return",explains that the spiritual core of Shadow Aesthetics which is tracing back to the traditional beauty of the Japanese nation,locating its own cultural value in the exchange and collision of eastern and Western cultures,and sticking to its unique artistic aesthetic spirit in cultural integration.At the same time,from the horizontal and vertical dimensions of "ancient and modern"and "Chinese and Western",this paper locates the important position of the Shadow Aesthetics in Japanese aesthetics,sums up its significance for the development of Japanese culture and also the world culture.
