Re-examine The Relationship Between The Origin Of "new Era Literature" And "17-year Literature"

Starting with the“Tiananmen Incident”in April 5^th,1976,Chinese contemporary literature began to enter the new period.From the“Tiananmen Incident”in 1976 to the Fourth Congress of Chinese writers and artists in 1979,this is the origin stage of the“New Period Literature”,and the transition period of Chinese contemporary literature.This literary stage not only has the meaning of literary history in the past and the future,but also full of richness and complexity.Therefore,there are two different perspectives in the study of“new period literature”.The first one is that“New Period Literature”inherits and carries forward the“May Fourth Literature”tradition at the time of its origin.The other believes that“new period Literature”firstly continues and develops the“17-year Literature”tradition in the origin stage,or have a similar relationship with the“Cultural Revolution Literature”.The former emphasizes the meaning of the"fracture"of origin,which the latter focuses on the“continuation”value of origin.These two viewpoints reflect the academic differences in the understanding of the origin of the“New Period Literature”.For the existing differences,this thesis starts from the perspective of re-examining the relationship between the origin of the“New Period Literature”and“17-year Literature”,which a combination of external and internal research in literature will be used.Firstly,I go deep into the historical context of the origin of the“new period literature”,using the“Bring Order Out of Chaos”as a starting point,which to investigate changes in the political situation,literary and artistic policies,literary trends,and literary criticism at this stage.Secondly,starting from representative literary phenomena,in order to analyze the continuity of literature at this stage,I focus on the publication of Replayed Flowers and re-issued of Zhou Enlai's and Chen Yi's literary speech in the early 1960s.Thirdly,the relationship between literature in this period and“17-year Literature”is studied from the following three aspects with the internal research of literature:the recovery of Realism,development of subject-matter and newcomer shaping.Through the above discussion,proving that the origin of the“New Period Literature”is mainly based on“Bring Order Out of Chaos”.Whether it is literary theory discourse or writer's creative practices,this period basically continued the pattern and characteristics of the“17-year Literature”.On the one hand,the thesis should prove that the“New Period Literature”inherited the"17-year literature"in the origin stage.On the other hand,it is necessary to overcome the simplification and one-sided understanding of literature in this period and“17-year of literature”through“review”,which reassess the significance of literary history and makes objective value judgments on related writers'works.At last,I hope to provide some reference for the study of Chinese contemporary literature through“review”.
